Winery Background

Sean and Candice Bundy began making wine and mead when they were married in 1995 after their friends Joyce and Keith Langley gifted them with a homebrew set as a wedding gift. (So you can either thank them, or rue their gift choice...)

Over the years, the Bundy's love of wine and mead and all things brewed grew and grew. They dreamed of a day when their brewing would become more than a hobby.

During the spring of 2008 Sean wrote a letter to the city of Centennial humbly asking for approval to start a home-based winery, and then the adventure started! The summer of 2008 was spent on home remodeling, paperwork for federal and state licensing, and securing contracts on grape purchases from the western slope.

Also in 2008 both Sean and Candice were certified as Executive Wine Sommeliers by The International Wine Guild at their downtown Denver location (on the Auraria Campus). The International Wine Guild offers training to both industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. We cannot recommend them enough! If you're in the market for wine education, these are the people to go to.

All of the wines and meads produced at Dithyramb Winery are done in small, hand-crafted batches and receive oodles of personalized attention.

The name Dithyramb is a hymn sung to Dionysos, the greek god of wine.

We plan on offering a wine and/or mead of the month club starting in the Spring of 2010. Please sign up for our Newsletter so we can keep you updated!

Eco-Friendly Winery Initiatives

We consider our impact on the environment a top priority, and have taken a variety of steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

Where do you source your grapes?

As we are currently a home-based winery, you might be asking yourself, where do they get their grapes?

We do as many other wineries do, we contract our grapes from select vineyards. Specifically, from vineyards on Colorado's western slope in the Grand County AVA, including cities like Grand Junction and Palisade. The Grand County AVA produces a variety of familiar grapes, including Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and others. Most notably, this area excels at the production of Cabernet Franc grapes. We encourage you to try this varietal if you haven't already!
